Tinder and Bumble, two of the biggest dating apps of today, were created to challenge the antiquated notion of dating. They became single people's go-to when it comes to finding quality matches. With the same swiping features—right if you're interested with the user and left if you're not—both dating sites have one major difference: who gets to send the first message.

On Tinder, regardless if you’re a man or a woman, you can send the first message to any of your matches. However, on Bumble, only women can send the first message. In the case of same-sex matches, either one of them can send the message first. Aside from who can initiate the conversation first, there are several components in which Tinder and Bumble are different.

Members

Tinder and Bumble share the same demographic target. They mostly cater to heterosexual millennial couples, but members of the LGBTQ+ community are also welcome to join these sites. But in terms of a wider pool, there are millions of members more who are on Tinder than there are on Bumble. This means that there are more member profiles to check out on Tinder. Though there are a few members who use either of them as a hookup app, they appeal mostly to those who are in search of a serious relationship.

Features

Swipelife has taken over dating apps by storm. Tinder, as the pioneering online dating platform that offered this feature, is the leading dating app to date. However, Bumble is considered to be the “tamer” version of it simply because the app puts women in charge of who they want to connect and start a conversation with their matches.

There is nothing much difference between the two apps. Tinder has Super Like feature, while Bumble has Super Swipe. These features are being offered to its users, and they allow you to let the other person know that you really like their profile.

Free and Paid Services

In terms of the free services that they offer, both apps basically have the same features. These apps are free to download, have fast and easy registration, can upload photos and build your online profile, and have a location-based algorithm that uses your location for your match suggestions. Tinder and Bumble also offer a snippet to one paid service—one super like and one re-match per day, respectively.

Usability

Both dating apps make use of the swiping feature to indicate whether or not you’re interested in someone’s profile. If you like someone, you may swipe right, and if you don’t, just swipe left. In the event that both of you “liked” each other, you will be able to message them. Because of its popularity, other dating apps have adopted this function.

As mentioned earlier, on Tinder, either you or your match can initiate your conversation; while on Bumble, female members are given 24 hours to reach out and start chatting.

Pricing

Since their launching, Bumble and Tinder are free to download for both iOS and Android users. However, free usage of the apps has limited features, and they can only be fully accessed when you subscribe to their premium membership.

Tinder offers two tiers of subscription—Tinder Plus and Tinder Gold. These premium membership subscriptions can be availed via one-month, three-month, or six-month membership plans.
Bumble members can subscribe to their BumbleBoost premium membership to enjoy the app’s full features.
